Yoga breathing can be very helpful to keep your lungs healthy during the conronavirus crisis. When we’re anxious we tend to breathe in the top of the lungs and our breath is shallow. Taking 2 or 3 deep breaths into the lower part of the lungs at intervals during the day can help keep the lungs aerated and the breathing muscles flexible. Slow breathing with a longer our breath for 2 – 3 minutes can help lower the heart rate and bring about a calmer state of mind. Try breathing in for a count of 4 and out for a count of 6. You can adjust the numbers to what feels comfortable for you, and always work within your comfort zone.
